Stan Freberg To Star On The Radio Adventures Of Dr. Floyd Podcast

Burbank, CA, October 11, 2008 – Legendary satirist, voiceover actor and recording artist Stan Freberg is set to make his debut on the podcast, The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd as world famous literary detective, Sherlock Holmes. The two episode arc starring Stan Freberg will begin with episode #709 which will be released on Monday, October 20, 2008 and will then conclude with episode #710 which will be released a week later. Both episodes will be released for free, exclusively at the show’s website – www.DoctorFloyd.com

“It’s quite possible our show wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Stan Freberg,” says The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd co-creator Grant Baciocco. “I was a big fan of his recordings from a very young age and the style of our show is based in a large part on his History Of The United States album. To be able to act with him on the show is a tremendous honor.”

Stan Freberg will take his turn as Sherlock Holmes during the seventh season of the wildly popular show, which finds Dr. Floyd and his arch nemesis Dr. Steve traveling through works of classic literature. Their journey has included stops in TOM SAYWER, MOBY DICK and Shakespeare’s A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. The show airs on the heels of the successful Summer Reading Program the show held which saw fans of the show read over 1,170 books over the summer months in order to promote reading literacy. A first amongst podcasts.

Since November of 2004, The Radio Adventures Of Dr. Floyd has steadily built listenership with wacky tales of the World’s Most Brilliant Scientist, Dr. Floyd, as he battles his arch nemesis, Dr. Steve. The show is currently under development as a TV show and feature film. The Los Angeles Times has called the show ‘a Prairie Home Companion for kids’ and Nickelodeon’s Director of Development, Peter Gal, called the show ‘too educational’ for Nickelodeon.
